The Government of the State of Rio, in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and SEBRAE, presented this Wednesday a new brand for the Beachwear Cluster in the municipality of Cabo Frio. Developed by Crama Design, brand’s visual identity seeks to strengthen the Local Productive Arrangement (APL) Beach Fashion in the region.

Known as the Bikini Street in Cabo Frio (pictured below), the first and only street in the world that caters exclusively to stores selling swimwear, serves as a business card to the 100 + companies based in the city. According to the Industrial and Commercial Association of Street Bikinis (ACIRB), five million pieces are produced per year. With the slogan “Sun, salt and style”, the brand captures the liveliness and atmosphere of the region.

Marco Capute, State Secretary for Economic Development, highlighted the importance of brand awareness and proactivity in promoting entrepreneurship: “It is always an admirable achievement to see an entrepreneur work on creating and consolidating a brand to add value to his product. It means they understand that when you sell something, you’re not only thinking about the cost of production, but the dream and the story your product tells. While the State Government thoroughly supports any initiative to add value and development potential, it is up to the entrepreneur to execute and truly implement change in their business”.

Dulce Angela Procopio, Secretary of Trade and Services, the Department of Economic Development, added that the new brand can be an asset for local entrepreneurs seeking to associate their product with a thriving economic force within the State of Rio de Janeiro. “Since 2007, when we first identified the economic potential of the region, we have been investing in capacitating local entrepreneurs in order to develop the sector. Today, we can proudly say that Cabo Frio is a hub for Swimwear Production, a case reference in terms of Local Productive Arrangement. The Bikini street is home to the highest concentration of companies in the segment and has also become a major tourist point for the city. The launch of the brand consolidates the work of nearly a decade and gives more visibility to the city’s production of the city.”
